Pricing

As attorneys who have focused our practice primarily on consumer law and debt issues, helping people navigate the legal implications of their financial circumstances is a large part of our life’s work. We acknowledge that often people struggle financially through no fault of their own – predatory lending, a volatile economy, a significant health problem – and we strive to resolve our clients’ issues through robust and affordable advocacy.

We also recognize that hiring an attorney is a significant financial decision, and part of our philosophy at ALG is to not only bring affordable legal services to the underrepresented, but also help our clients achieve and maintain a sound financial position. For this reason, we have established a price structure that encourages you to tailor your consumption of legal services to your budget.

OUR AFFORDABLE FEE SCHEDULE

*The fee rates provided on this site do not include any costs associated with your particular legal issue. Clients will be responsible for all costs in addition to attorney’s fees. Contact us to learn about what costs to expect and receive a fee quote. Anchor

Sliding Scale Hourly Fee

Affordable Legal Group charges an hourly rate, based on your income and household size.

For instance, a family of 3 with an adjusted annual income of $85,500 would qualify for a $125 hourly rate. Compared to the $255 median hourly rate in Florida, this would represent a $130 an hour reduction, or approximately a 50% savings on legal fees.

Income Verification

To verify your income, we require that you produce your last federal income tax return and your last two pay stubs. You will also be required to fill out an intake form detailing your income sources and expenses. We ask our clients for this information so that we may determine the correct hourly rate, as we consider some types of deductions when calculating your annual income.

Qualifying for Affordable Legal Group

If your income is outside the range listed in the sliding scale chart, you will not necessarily be turned away from Affordable Legal Group. If your income is lower than the first column but you are able and willing to pay the lowest hourly fee ($85/hour) you will still be eligible for our services. Likewise, if your income is higher than the last column, you will pay our highest hourly fee ($150/hour).

We do not currently offer rates lower than $85 an hour, but we hope to soon expand our sliding scale and offer affordable rates to those in lower income brackets.

If you have any questions about whether or not you qualify, please contact us today for a fee quote.Anchor

What is “Limited Scope Representation?”

Limited scope representation is when the attorney and client agree that the attorney will handle certain parts of the case, while the client handles others. Some examples of possible limited scope arrangements include:

The client feels comfortable handling all filings, hearings, and document preparation, and only wishes to hire an attorney for their time to review documents and advise on case strategy.

The attorney develops the case strategy and drafts the necessary documents, while the client files them and appears at his or her own hearings. Client pays attorney to coach them prior to the hearing.

Client creates his or her own documents, but hires the attorney to attend hearings on their behalf.

Clients at ALG who are facing foreclosure, credit card or collection actions, contract disputes, or other litigation matters will find the flexibility of limited scope coupled with our sliding scale an affordable option to the traditional model of purchasing an attorney’s services.Anchor

What Are “Document Preparation Services”?
We also offer an a la cart menu of legal services to those clients who do not require formal legal representation.

We offer a unique arrangement in which you fill out an online questionnaire through a secure, password protected client portal that will generate the appropriate legal document. This document is then forwarded to an attorney in our office, who will carefully review it to check for compliance with relevant laws and local rules.

If you find you need assistance beyond reviewing your documents, but do not wish to cross the bridge into formal representation, you may purchase an hour of time and schedule a phone appointment with the attorney who reviewed your documents. We also offer coaching/prepping services for simple hearings or mediations.
